Welcome to Observations From the Road Less Traveled
I describe myself as living a fortunate life where my “work” is based in the virtual media. After several years of teaching sociology at such great collegiate institutions as Spelman College, Elon College, and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, I began to investigate what steps it would take to create a life of flexibility by utilizing the web.
E-preneurship, blogging, learning about web based social media, and the bounty of resources it provides have become my primary interests. I currently teach completely online, and run several businesses which have operations firmly anchored in the online world and are based out of things that I would enjoy doing for free.
This blog and the content written under “Observations of The Road Less Traveled,” reflect my personal experiences and the blog “tag” refers to the last stanza of the Robert Frost poem “The Road Not Taken.”
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I–
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
While interpretists argue if this poetic work is about individualism or indecisiveness, my pull to the words has always been about the need to reflect on the experiences of my life- realizing that the road usually taken by the crowd tends to be just that- crowded. “Observations from the Road Less Traveled” is therefore about life experiences recent or long since past, seemingly momentary or life altering. It is to me about being open and observant of the experiences of my life. Relishing them, and giving many through my words, the reverence they deserve not because I am so special but because life is. Each observation is a moment, a lesson, a journey, a funny story to be shared, or a place found on an adventure across town, country or world.
