Excellent E-life

I’m on my semi annual media fast until February 1, but I just couldn’t resist watching and listening to all of the iPad news this past Wednesday. After hearing lots of talk about this product not being exciting enough, just an iphone on steroids, or not really making a 3rd category of mobile device between smartphones and laptops, I had to throw my 2 cents out there. I have an iMac, Macbook Pro and an iPhone. Each has a very specific use in my day to day. Let me show you how that works for me, then show how I think the iPad might fit perfectly into my lifestyle, replacing some of the weaknesses of all three. Read more…

You Gotta See This!
Had a great experience down in Miami attending a 4 day qigong workshop. Will be blogging on it soon. One of the many things I came away with was a new personal commitment to start a food based health program that I learned of while there. Part of that program is intensive 3hp blending, and the recommended blender comes from Blendtec. While doing my online research I was “horrified” to see the power of this blender demonstrated by the destruction of my beloved iPhone. Amazing! But even more crazy…did you see the toxic smog that came from the phone? Where can we safely recycle these things?

Tech Trials

Just like our eyes can be too big for our stomachs, our minds can be too busy for our actual lives. How many times have you rented a movie only to have to take it back sight unseen? It’s always aggravated me to rent from Blockbuster and worry about return dates as a movie I was really hot for cooled off on top of the DVD player. Life intervened and I was either too tired, too busy, or not in the right mood for that movie. Redbox came along and I thought I would be able to strike while the mood was hot. Spontaneously pick up a flick, watch it that night and return it for the bargain price of $1.00. Then, the same thing started happening and I was racking up late fees by falling prey to the dreaded “gonna watch it tonight” affliction. That red disc and my account suffered the same Blockbuster fate. Even tried NetFlix, but there was something just shy of OCD that made me anxious seeing DVD envelopes laying around for weeks, waiting to be “watched.” Here’s a solution. Read more…

I must admit I am an Apple product fanatic but I also love to save money and find the best deals out there. One of the big sales perks when I brought my iMac was .Mac. which is now known as Mobile Me. What was appealing about the service was that it had mac.com email, idisk remote file storage, web space, domain hosting, photo storage, calendars, and more. This seemed like a good idea and a good price at $99 per year of which I got a discount of $30 at my initial purchase. Now it is time to renew the $99 and as I consider if I want to renew, experience has taught me that I might not need to. Read more…
