Foolish Flyby
There is no way one can watch this video and not be chilled to the bone by memories of 9/11. White House officials say this jumbo jet (Air Force One when the President is on board) and its fighter pilot escort, were on a “classified” photo shoot. What kind of photo shoot would need this? The White House stated that local and state officials were notified of this plan. Obviously the general public did not know. Announcements on the local evening news and a few placards strategically placed in Lower Manhattan would have done the trick. Local officials like Mayor Bloomberg grandstanded a bit with their displays of indignation. They did after all know in advance. Regardless, the idea from the White House Military Office was a stupid one and should have been scrapped at the idea table.
